Excellent post, Matt. I loved that last comment by someone saying that in the Sedona Method, Lester Levenson taught to release both the good and the bad feelings so that one stays in, and manifests from that center point you described. Also, very few people teach about the upper limits problem AND have effective ways to deal with it. Author Gay Hendricks says that the ULP is one of the main challenges facing us humans in this day and age.
Love,
Eric

Matt,

This article rings so true to the heart and feet. Only when we are grounded, balanced, can our heart fly and flow.

So often on the journey to healing (ourselves and others), we become so passionate about the goal or the technique, and we forget to stay grounded and balanced. And that's when we become rigid in one way or another. I have been reminded lately to keep opening up my mind and body. It has brought me a lot of clarity and peace.

At times I was disappointed by how easy we can get off balance. I have now learned to appreciate the adjusting period, to know that there is something there (usually a bad feeling) that guides us the way back. I guess as long as we keep listening to the heart, it will tell us when we are off balance.

Feels like I'm rambling. Since you are rambling, guess I'm allowed too :)

Love,
Emily

Hi Matt-
Loved reading your post. I've always personally found that I KNOW I will manifest what I want when I'm in that state of calm equilibrium. I call it being in the center of the Tai Chi.
Even Lester Levenson taught that it's just as important to release the good feelings as it is to release the bad. I've certainly experienced the downside of clinging to the good stuff. It was mind-blowing when I observed myself go into a tailspin because of clinging to a 'good' feeling.
Thanks for the input and the reminder.

Great blog post Matt! Joy isn't sustainable all the time, although it sure is fun to be there. You are right, it does create an unsustainable adrenaline rush. Love the idea of listening to one's body in regards to this. Love the idea of striving for peace and balance.

There have been many miracles manifested in my life not in joyful states, contradicting popular literature, and I've often wondered where that fits. Sometimes feeling the pain authentically opens the door to manifestation. In my experience, pain can bring you closer to God, closer to surrendering control, closer to being open and allowing for support to come in whatever miraculous form it arrives. Embracing all feelings brings peace with what is.

Another thing... if you look at the 1st definition of joy from the example given from the dictionary, notice how it implies a "clinging" that I had mentioned in my last post.

1 a : the emotion evoked by .... by the prospect of possessing what one desires...

Rather peace, balance and serenity is something that doesn't need to be possesed or derived from an outside entity. It's that stillness and quiet where one sees all angles of a situation with equanimity, even in the "bad" things.

Hey Lynda!

Excitement may be a better word for Joy. However, the point I'm making is ANY feeling that takes you away from the middle (Peace and serenity) is an experience that is merely meant to be experienced, and as I wrote above - experienced fully - but then let go of... so we can come back to balance and peace.

So by no means was I insuating that you never experience joy. In fact, I meant the exact opposite. To experience it fully but to not cling on to it. It's the clinging that prevents the manifestation of what you want to disappear. It's the clinging that creates a response inside of us that goes "uh oh, when is the shoe going to drop."

But if you can fully experience it, let go and come back to peace and serenity, resistance to it will be kept to a minimum.

Hope that makes sense.

Now, how do you know when you're in joy, excitement... etc.. as opposed to peace, balance and serenity?

Listen to your body! Pretty much feeling that takes you out of homestasis is a sense or feeling that is only meant to be experienced for that moment... and again, when I say experience, FULLY EXPERIENCE IT, but do not cling to it.

As I've said on facebook.. "Wanting may create rockets of desire, but clinging will set off SCUD missles to knock it down."

Love
Matt

Good blog, Matt.

However I think you may be confusing "joy" with "excitement". Excitement produces the same chemical reaction as fear. Joy is a quieter sense of well-being.

The dictionary defines joy as:

1 a : the emotion evoked by well-being, success, or good fortune or by the prospect of possessing what one desires : delight b : the expression or exhibition of such emotion : gaiety

2 : a state of happiness or felicity : bliss

3 : a source or cause of delight

I wouldn't want to live a life devoid of Joy. Anyway, Joy is my middle name so I'm never going to be without it.

Please let me know if I misunderstood you. I look forward to your future posts.

Love,
