Supplementing with nutrient-dense foods
– An excerpt from Rick Schaff’s Fitness Model Plus Diet System:
Supplementing With Nutrient-Dense Foods
There are several food-supplements (foods so dense in nutrition that I refer to them as supplements) and even a few man-made supplements I recommend. It is important to note that by including the following foods as a regular part of our diet there is virtually no need for any additional vitamin or mineral supplementation:
Cod liver oil (fermented if possible) – great source for all the fat-soluble vitamins, especially vitamins A & D. I recommend a good cod liver oil supplement over any other fish oil product.
Raw & organic wheat germ - It is the best food source for obtaining all forms of vitamin E. It’s also very easy to add to shakes or oatmeal, etc.
Raw & organic dairy products (milk, butter, cream) - invaluable sources of vitamins A, D, CLA, saturated fat, and omega 3s
Organically raised cage free eggs - they are a good source of protein, omega 3’s, rich in vitamins A, D & E, minerals and other helpful compounds.
Kim Chi (korean style fermented cabbage) or sauerkraut – A smart, easy and delicious way to create good bacteria in the intestinal tract.
Fresh vegetable juices – They are packed with live enzymes and biologically available vitamins & minerals. Drinking fresh juices is the next best thing to having a blood transfusion
Super Food product – This dynamic product will covers all vitamin and mineral needs.
Fresh, raw garlic – Garlic is anti-viral, anti-bacterial, and anti-microbrial. It builds healthy blood and should be incorporated into the diet whenever possible (preferably raw).
Berries – Blueberries, strawberries, blackberries and raspberries are all generally low in sugar and high in anti-oxidants.
Sardines – Typically low in mercury and a good source of omega 3s and other helpful nutrients. Consume the whole sardine for maximum nutritional benefits.
Additional Supplements that may be necessary for added benefits:
Whey protein - non-denatured whey from concentrate - not isolate or hydrolized (ask me about this)
Alpha Lipoic Acid - great for liver optimization - should be cycled 2 weeks on 1-2 weeks off
Coenzyme Q10 - may be helpful to people over 40 to help re-establish more energy

I’m familiar with all of these foods except, what the heck is, super food? Something else about sardines is its high in calcium. I’m very much considering trying coenzyme Q10, its also supposed to help a persons memory.
Thanks,
