Are Diet Sodas Ok For Your Body?

I have to admit that I used to be addicted to these things - Drinking an average of about 3 cans of diet soda a day. But I always knew deep down inside that there was just something about it that my body rejected.

Sure enough, I started to get headaches on a daily basis which really puzzled me. Why? Because (other then the soda) I took care of myself in every other way. I trained with weights and did cardio, furthermore, I took care of myself emotionally through the use of hypnosis to help me relax and release deep seated emotions that have been tied to my past.

Also, on the spiritual end I meditated and focused on my connection to God everyday.

So it felt bizarre to me that I would get these headaches. Well, not really. After all, I always knew that when I drank the diet sodas there was just something so completely unnatural about it that it baffled my body, not my consciousness.

One day, I could no longer take the headaches and committed to break the trance of drinking diet sodas and stopped.

It was hard at first. Especially the first few days as my head would feel like it was going to split open from the withdrawal, but I got through it and now if I even take a sip of a diet soda, I can literally taste the chemicals on every taste bud on my tongue.

I now wonder how I ever slipped into that addiction in the first place because I remember having my first taste of a diet soda and thinking “YUCK, I’ll never drink this.” But I let the “experts” at that time over ride my natural instinct and convince me that diet sodas were ok. Hek, it was a way to spare calories, right?

    This is a great article and a truth I learned after years of drinking diet soda’s and still gaining weight. I could never figure it out until a friend put me on to the truth.

    My parents still drink these thinks like water which is sad. I printed some of the info out on the site to show my parents. Good article.

  3. OMG! I just happen to be drinking a diet Coke as I read this! lol

    However, I don’t do diet sodas constantly. I try to drink Seltzer water, more than anything else. (please don’t tell me there’s something wrong with that, or it’s just OVER!)

    Plain water, I pretty much have to force myself to drink, but keeping bottle of it right next to the comp helps. Then I’ll drink it without even thinking about it.

    They kind of left us hanging on the complete results and conclusions of this study, though. I will need to read up on it some more, and in the meantime finish this one soda….. ;)

    Ya, this one study was more or less just to help people consider it. I don’t know if you’ve read more in depth studies on Aspartame but it’s a pretty brutal chemical. At the same time, some people just may have a great tolerance for it, and that may be you :).

    You know, I must be a bit of an advertising zombie, there’s one water I like to drink - “Smart Water” - lol, every time I drink it I put the bottle on my forehead :-p
